Emmeline Pleasure Wand Review
By Carnal Queen.
The Emmeline Pleasure Wand is part of an exquisite range of sex toys, from the delightful adult boutique that is Coco de Mer. It’s a luxurious line, it’s high end, and the price tag is not for the feint of heart, so unless you want to be dropping mega bucks on a glamorous vibrator, look away now …
I’ll be honest, I didn’t think brown sex toys would hold any appeal for me. I mean, they’re brown!
Brown anything has ever been at the top of my ‘sexy must haves’ list, but I have to own up and say, I’ve been totally stupefied by the Emmeline Wand from the Coco de Mer range, because it’s bloody beautiful!
Let’s get one thing straight out of the way to begin with, Emmeline is NOT a wand. Calling this a wand, would be like calling a Jaffa Cake a biscuit (and no, they’re not biscuits, the clue is in the name!). There seems to be a few sex toys on the market at the moment, that are branded as wands (hello Svakom Emma), but I’m not a fan of this new craze. People already have an expectation of what a wand should be in the world of sex toys, and they know what they want from it, and if you’re looking at Emmeline expecting anything traditionally wand-like, you’ll be disappointed. It’s a vibrator, a very lovely one, but a vibrator none the less.
You could say there are three different categories of sex toys. You have budget, or entry level ones, that arrive in simplistic packaging, and are totally no-frills. Mid-range options, which will generally come much better presented, and often have with them storage bags and the like. And then there’s the luxury products, designed to give you an all-round experience, from the moment you first set eyes on the box. This range of sex toys from Coco de Mer sits itself at the top of the luxury market, and rightly so. The packaging, the overall finish, and the gorgeous storage case are all part of the deal. There’s no denying that you do pay for it, but if you’re the kind of person who delights in treating yourself to the luxurious things in life, then you may well find yourself falling head over heels, Christian Louboutin of course, for this line.
Once inside the alluring outer box, you’re greeted with a brown leather storage case. It opens a bit like a pencil case, with the top couple of inches zipping open to reveal your new delight. You also get an instruction book, and a USB charging cable, which is in a clear bag, skilfully thrown into the bottom of the box. All of this range features a painting of a woman on the book, in this case Emmeline. I’m presuming it’s going to be Emmeline Pankhurst, a British political leader, but I can’t find this confirmed anywhere. And I can’t help but wonder, why?
The vibrator is housed neatly, inside a foam pad inside the case. The hole for it has been placed off centre, and I’m not sure why they didn’t just cut another hole in the other side, for you to store the USB cable in, instead of just throwing it in the bottom of the box. Still, I guess it’s something you could easily do yourself, although at this end of the market, I don’t expect to be providing any manual labour myself, unless it’s of the sexy kind. The foam does its job, the toy is safe, and ready to go, whenever you are.
Emmeline is a really beautiful thing to behold. The sumptuous chocolate shade goes so well with the copper coloured band that’s at the top of the handle, and the silicone coating is silky soft against the skin. A Coco de Mer logo adorns the handle, along with three buttons, a plus, a minus, and one with the Coco de Mer ‘seed’ on. It’s simple to operate, the seed button changes between the five vibration patterns and one constant setting, and the others control the intensity of each of the modes. Simple and straightforward.
Before you dive straight under the duvet to experiment with your new toy, you’ll need to give Emmeline a full charge. I do really like where the charging port has been put on this toy, you simply unscrew the handle to expose the small charging socket. It’s neat and functional. An hour’s charge will give you around 90 minutes of play, so plenty of time for you and Emmeline to get acquainted.
Emmeline is waterproof for bath and shower play. The book instructs you to make sure the handle is screwed on tightly to create a seal. In reality though, you can only screw it to the point of closed, and then it stops. Great if you have any dexterity issues, because it means it’s never going to be on too tightly, so you’ll never have a problem opening it up to charge your toy. Unfortunately though, this means it’s incredibly easy to knock, and it can start to unscrew when you’re cleaning it, so care needs to be taken here. I’ve used Emmeline in water, and it’s so far been fine, but I have found water inside the first thread of the screw, when I’ve separated the handle from the main body, so I’m not sure I’d use it in water too often, to be sure I don’t kill it with the wet stuff.
I really wasn’t sure what to make of Emmeline when I first switched it on. If I’m totally honest, I think I was a little underwhelmed. I was expecting bells and whistles and a fanfare or two to accompany my luxury sex toy experience, I didn’t get them. In the hand, it felt kind of mid-range, and as you know, I crave power! It’s no secret that I’m a power queen, with a huge love for all things rumbly, so I was a bit disappointed to say the least.
My respect for Emmeline grew though, the more I played. I’m absolutely not saying that Emmeline ticks all the boxes for me, far from it, but I will say that I honestly believe a lot of people will get on well with it, and get the pleasure their body needs from it. The vibrations are kinda rumbly, and I can even use Emmeline for body massage, and it feels pretty good as it works at my tired muscles. When on my clit, they travel quite deeply into the internal tissue, making sure that the inner parts of my clitoris are stimulated too. Sure, I’d like a bit more oomph from the engine, but what’s already under the bonnet works, and it does work well. I never fail to orgasm clitorally, and I’ve always been left feeling spent and satisfied. It just takes me longer than I’m used to, and sometimes I don’t want to play the long game.
Internally, I have to already be aroused in order for me to get any pleasure from Emmeline. When CK is in charge, I’m well away, but using alone, it feels like it’s majorly lacking. I think a larger bulbous end, or a curve hitting my G-Spot would make all the difference. Just as well they make a G-Spot version, Georgina, then isn’t it…
Overall, I think Emmeline is a charming toy, that’s beautifully presented. It’s about the full package with this one. Yes, of course you could get a similar toy, or better, for a lot less money, but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as beauteous as this. If you’re someone who likes the decadent, opulent things in life, and you like moderately powerful, moderately rumbly sex toys, it could be a perfect fit for you!
I really do love my new pencil case though! 🙂
Pros
