Voulez-Vous Massage Oil Review
By Carnal Queen.
I really love a good massage, there’s nothing I find more relaxing, so it’s essential for me to have a nice selection of massage oils in my collection. When the opportunity arises to test a new oil, I resign myself to the thought of having to endure countless massages … tough job eh?
I generally favour massage candles, because I like the added warmth they provide, but for those occasions when waiting for a candle to melt isn’t necessarily appropriate, it’s great to have a bottle of oil to hand. This oil from French company Voulez-Vous is from a range of six – Desire (Vanilla), Relaxing (Orange), Stimulating (Lemon Eucalyptus), Aphrodisiac (Ylang Ylang), Bewitching (Petals of Rose) and Sensual (Almond Peach). Meo currently sell four of the six varieties, and they kindly sent me the Rose version to test drive.
As with most massage oils, this one is relatively runny in consistency, but oddly it doesn’t feel particularly oily. When used for massage, the product coats the skin when rubbed over with your hands, and remains a little oily as you work at it with your fingers, but it does absorb fairly quickly in comparison to others, so reapplication is needed a few times for a good massage session. The scent is definitely overtly feminine, but it doesn’t scream Rose at me, as I expected it to. It’s certainly floral, but it has a bit more sweetness to the aroma, like there’s a note of Jasmine or similar in there. I was a little disappointed with the fragrance, it’s quite subtle, and lasts no longer than about ten minutes on my skin. I like a good massage at night in bed, and I often wake up to the delicious aroma of the oils we’ve used the night before, still lingering around me, but not with this, it leaves no trace of it’s existence behind at all.
That said, the oil does leave my skin feeling lovely and soft, and there’s no oily residue or slip left behind. Because of this, I’d probably grab the Voulez-Vous Massage Oil if I fancied indulging in some morning muscle manipulation. I would be able to dress quickly afterwards, and the oil would not fight or interfere with any fragrance I decided to wear that day.
The bottles are 150ml, so there’s plenty for a few massages, and we’ve experienced no staining on the bed linen thankfully. It washes off your skin super easy too, which for an oil is kinda weird. I tried washing a handful off my hands without soap – usually it’d turn into an oil slick, and need soap to break it down, but this practically all went with just water. I like that the product contains no preservatives or parabens, and an open bottle should last six months without spoiling, according to the label. Which is great if you want to get a few of them, to experience different scents according to your mood.
All in all, for me this massage oil doesn’t tick the boxes. It doesn’t feel particularly luxurious or decadent, and the scent is too subtle. I like to have my senses awakened when I get a massage, sadly this does nothing for me.
Meo kindly sent me the Voulez-Vous Massage Oil for free, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This does not alter or influence my opinions in any way. If you’d like to buy some Voulez-Vous oil, you can do so here. Affiliate links have been used in this post.
