Tantus Duchess Review
By Carnal Queen.
The Tantus Duchess has been on my Lust List since the moment I spotted it. A bit like when you spot the perfect shoes in a store, my heart fluttered a bit, I let out a little gasp, and I found myself wondering how it would work for me. I just knew I had to have it! The dildo Gods smiled down on me, and Tantus very kindly sent me one to review – thanks guys!
The Duchess is part of Tantus’ O2 line of dildos, which is their dual density line. This means it has a much firmer silicone core, but that it’s covered in a sumptuous layer of much softer, more forgiving silicone, which makes it so comfortable to use. If you’ve never tried dual density before, you truly don’t know what you’ve been missing, and I’d really recommend that you rectify that situation straight away! Well, after you’ve read the rest of the review anyway …
You might already know this if you’re regular readers, but for those don’t, the Tantus Cush is my favourite silicone dildo ever. I love everything about it, from its impressive size to its squishable squish. The Duchess is in many ways, very similar to the Cush, but it does have a few subtle differences.
Whilst they’re both what I’d class as unrealistic toys, they do have a very definite nod to the male form. Those pronounced heads are probably the most obvious nod there is! The Duchess has a much more rounded shape, and quite an obvious coronal ridge, which I really like. The head is slightly larger than on the Cush and has some really nice frenulum detail. It’s made from a slightly glossy, super squishy silicone, with the rest of the dildo being made from the same soft feel material, but with a matte finish. With 6.5 inches of insertable length, the Duchess is a really lovely length, providing me with that full feeling I totally love.
The shinier head of the Duchess makes insertion super easy, as long as I’m lubed up nicely with water based lube. It’s not as draggy as I imagined it might be, and a generous helping of lube will last me a whole session without drying up. It creates a definite ‘pop’ which is a feeling I adore with dual density silicone. To be honest, it’s a feeling I adore full stop, but with dual density it’s always so comfortable and it happily gives a little, if my body provides any resistance. It’s unusual for my body to provide resistance with Tantus toys though, it’s usually screaming “Come to Momma!”.
The shaft of the Duchess is slightly narrower on the shaft than the Cush, but it’s still quite a generous toy. It slims down from 6 inches in circumference at the head, to 5 inches on the shaft. I actually really like the more obvious drop in circumference, because once I’ve taken the head into my vagina, my body relaxes around the shaft a little, and so when I thrust, the head gives that delicious ‘pop’ like its the first time, every time, and I bloody love that. So, what’s the biggest difference between the Duchess and the Cush? Drumroll please …
The Duchess takes a bullet!
Now, I know that sounds like a CNN newsflash, but it’s actually the little factor that turns an already awesome dildo into a vibrating awesome dildo! Cool huh?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – The bullets that come with Tantus toys aren’t powerful for me. They come straight out of the box, pose for a couple of photos, then go off to reside in the man drawer, alongside the (mostly dead) batteries and the takeaway menus. My beloved We-Vibe Tango graciously takes their place, and does the job at hand. I am a self confessed power Queen though, so if you’re not, the Tantus single speed might be ok for you, perhaps as a stand alone bullet – the vibrations don’t carry through the silicone well enough when used in the dildo.
I’ll be honest, I don’t always use the Duchess with vibrations. Don’t get me wrong, they feel good from the We-Vibe Tango, and I find it really pleasurable. I guess I’m just not always in the mood for vibrations, because the Duchess is awesome without them! Although the shaft is straight, which makes it an amazing toy for thrusting with, the head is big and beautiful enough to graze my G-Spot with every pass. If I was looking to go all out for a stand-alone G-Spot orgasm, I possibly wouldn’t reach for the Duchess, because I personally need a little more pressure than that gorgeous squishy head can give me. BUT, for blended orgasms it feels fucking mind-blowing. It works my G-Spot up into such a frenzy, that although it doesn’t tip me over into orgasmic bliss using it alone, the moment I add clitoral stimulation into the mix, my head starts spinning and I’m fighting with myself to slow down. The climaxes are heavenly when I let them come. This dildo is heaven sent!
Being able to take a bullet also means the Duchess is suction cup compatible – huzzah! I love my suction cup. It’s not something I use all the time, but I love having the option of being able to ride the Duchess, hands free. It’s also harness compatible and anal safe too, although taking it anally is not something I’ve tried, that head is a little bit ambitious for me at the moment. (That, and the fact that every time I get the Duchess out, I just want to hump it vaginally!) Because it’s made from Tantus’ amazing silicone, it’s super easy to care for and can be hygienically cleaned with a boil, a run through the dishwasher or even good old fashioned soap and water! They’re low maintenance toys that give you maximum pleasure – a win on every level.
Could the Duchess rank highly your dildo hierarchy?
Tantus very kindly sent me the Duchess for free, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This in no way alters my thoughts or experiences. To grab you’re own Tantus Duchess, click here. Oh, it looks so pretty in that shot where light shines through the base a little! I think I wouldn’t even use it as a vibrator – just straight up dildo-riding goodness 😀

I must admit, that’s usually how I take my Tantus toys too 🙂 That bullet hole means suction cup too though, so I’m happy! x
