KinkCraft Mini Flogger Kit Review
By Carnal Queen.
I guess it’s fair to say, I’ve always been the creative, artsy type. I find huge pleasure in sitting and bringing something to life, from scratch – it’s so rewarding. I’ve dabbled in many genres, from baking to painting, glass firing to jewellery making, and many things in between. Since starting Carnal Queen in 2014 though, crafting has sadly taken a backseat. Sure, my writing is a form of creative expression and I love it, but it doesn’t give me the same kind of satisfaction that rolling my sleeves up and getting creative gives me. Enter KinkCraft. I cannot put into words how excited this company makes me! When they asked if they could send me their Mini Flogger Kit for review, I was delighted. My two worlds collided, and I got to handcraft something that’s relevant in my other life of sex toys and debauchery. And it’s left me itching to get making more!
This kit is cute! It’s totally inexpensive, and is a great way of dipping your toe in the water. It arrives to you packaged in a lovely branded KinkCraft box – you can see and appreciate the attention to detail immediately. You get everything you need to make the flogger, along with a code to download the simple instructions. The value is utterly fantastic, as the instructions themselves are £6, but the whole kit is only £8! All you’ll need to have to hand is a pair of scissors, a tape measure, and 20-30 minutes of your time. Inside the box is your paracord, a roll of tape to form the handle shape, and a metal ring to make the flogger from, which will act as a hanging loop once it’s made. The cord arrives in two separate coloured bundles, but you’ll need to measure each piece and cut it into two. After that’s done, you’re good to go. Crafting in this way isn’t for everyone, but I do absolutely believe that anybody can do it. People look at the finished product and think ‘I can’t do that!’, but I promise you, with the help of KinkCraft, you really can.
The instructions are in video form. I love this, because the majority of people will find it easier to duplicate an instruction if they watch it being done. There’s no written details to get your head around, you just watch, and follow along. Pause, skip back and repeat as much as you need to, the information is there for you, when you need it. Broken down into bite-sized videos, they’re professional, very clear and easy to understand, and super easy to follow.
As I’ve mentioned, the flogger is made from paracord. Paracord is an incredibly lightweight and tough material, and something which I’ve worked with many times before. Originally used as suspension lines in parachutes, it’s incredibly strong and hardwearing. Bracelets, keyrings, and cat and dog collars are just some of the things I’ve made with paracord previously, but I’ve never made anything to use in the bedroom. Until now!
I’m not going to go into detail about how I made the flogger, because I don’t want to spoil it for you.
It’s very easy to do, it comes together quickly, and I find the whole process really enjoyable and relaxing! It’s customisable to a degree too, you determine the length of the handle, and you can finish the ends however you please, with knots or not – it’s your flogger, it’s your choice.
When you’re finished, you’re left with a really lovely, usable impact toy. Don’t think that it’s all a big gimmick and you’ll be left with something that’s only good for show. Granted, you’re not going to cause the spankee to break out in a sweat through fear of the impact, but it’s most definitely got its place in your spanking armoury! It’s a joy to make, a lovely item once made, and it’s most definitely functional.
Being relatively compact at around 12 inches in length when finished, the flogger is light and easy to wield. Because of this, it’s really great for sensual play. Whole body caresses with the long falls feels lovely, and you know your arm isn’t going to tire too easily from the weight of it. My skin comes alive as CK teases me with it, making every touch feel more intense. And when he feels like spanking my ass, he can! It’s not a tool that will make you quiver in your boots, but it’s definitely a flogger that’s suitable for everybody to use. It would be a great introduction to spanking.
For me, there’s something utterly brilliant about CK sitting and watching me lovingly create something which he is then going to use to spank me with. This flogger may not be something we reach for all the time, especially if we want a heavy session, but it will always have a place in our collection, because I made it, and it’s lovely!
Remember me talking about the value of the kit? Just £2 more for the materials on top of the price of the course? Well, that course is yours to keep. You can come back to it whenever you want to, just log into the KinkCraft website, with the details you provided, and it’s there for you. You know what they say, knowledge is power! Just because you made your flogger initially with paracord, doesn’t mean you can’t think outside of your KinkCraft box, and adapt things to get a different outcome.
A quick stash raid, and I found some suede thong, and a D ring. Another half an hour of getting busy with my fingers, and I have another variation of the same flogger. So much fun! I’ve enjoyed this kit so much, it’s made me hungry to do more crafting of any type, but it’s made me especially excited about the whole concept behind KinkCraft. I’ve been eyeing up the large flogger, because that looks a little more brutal and luscious!
Give it a go! Do something different, I think you’ll be really pleased with what you can achieve.
Huge thanks to KinkCraft for sending me the Mini Flogger Kit for free, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This does not alter my thoughts or experiences in any way.
