ElectraStim Lula Kegel Balls Review
By Carnal Queen.
I was deliriously excited to be asked to review the ElectraStim Silicone Noir Lula Electro Jiggle Kegel Balls. My love for all things ElectraStim is growing at a rate of knots, and the kegels were something I’d had my eye on for a while. I was interested in how they would compare to the normal, stand alone kegel sets that I’ve tried in the past, and I was curious as to whether I’d find the experience to be pleasurable or just functional.
The ElectraStim Silicone Noir Lula is a bi-polar Electrastim product, and I’ve been trying it out using the Flick EM60-E unit, although any of their units is compatible. It’s made from 100% platinum cured silicone and has a free-roaming weight in the top ball (jiggle ball) and has the conductive contacts in the bottom ball. These contacts allow the top ball to bounce and jiggle into your G-Spot, and cause your vaginal muscles to pulse and contract. The Lula is a really nice size too, it’s 3.75 inches in length, and just under 4.5 inches in circumference at the largest point. It weighs 90g, although the weight isn’t really as important with these kegels, the electro-stimulation does a lot of the work.
When inserting the Lula, you need to ensure the flower-type design on each side of the top ball are facing your hips, and not front and back. They can twist a little when you push them in, especially when they’re covered in (very essential) lube, but after I did it the first couple of times, I could get them in exactly the right place with ease. Once they’re in, you just plug the two, 2mm pin connectors from your unit into the sockets at the base of the kegels (they hang outside of your body and are totally comfortable), and you’re ready to go!
ElectraStim suggest using the Noir Lula for 20 minutes every day, but I really wouldn’t jump in quite that fast if your pelvic floor isn’t used to being exercised. It’s a muscle, and like any muscle, it’s going to hurt a little if you over exert it! I wanted to give these a really good workout in terms of testing the benefits to the pelvic floor, so I’ve been testing these for seven weeks so far, and for the first two weeks I took it easy, only doing ten to fifteen minutes, every other day. I did feel a little bit of discomfort initially, just a mild ache in my abdomen, but as my body became used to the workout, this stopped and I was able to increase to the 20 minutes. I did this most days – I did forget once or twice, I’m only human!
So what does it feel like? Well, like all electro-stimulation products, that’s incredibly difficult to describe! It’s not at all painful, so if you’re imagining the scene from Home Alone where Marv gets electrocuted, you couldn’t be more wrong! It’s very pleasurable for me, it’s not orgasmic on it’s own, but it does feel very good. Of course, the unit can be turned up to a level which is less comfortable, but that’s down to personal preference. I do sometimes like to do this though, because it encourages me to squeeze my pelvic floor muscle harder – No pain, no gain as they say! The sensations I get are just from the crazy vaginal muscle contractions the kegels cause, it doesn’t feel zappy or shocky at all.
The patterns offered by the ElectraStim unit are heavenly when used with the Noir Lula, and straightforward constant stimulation is boring! You want those delicious pulses, and because the unit has 7 patterns with 24 intensity levels, you’re never going to get bored. It also means that you can vary your workout on a daily basis, which is great, and you don’t then fall into lazy, pelvic floor workout habits. They’re easy to wear whilst you carry on with your day, just by slipping the control unit into a waistband or pocket (there’s enough cable), but I have to admit that I like to set aside those 20 minutes just for me. I like to settle down, to really enjoy the stimulation. Your vaginal muscles will work very hard in those few minutes, and I do feel that it would still be beneficial if you just laid back and let them do the work, but I like to manually squeeze my muscles in conjunction with my chosen pattern. Just like any physical workout, if you increase the resistance, you should see better results.
Most people will know the benefits of having good pelvic floor health – Better orgasms, better urethral control, increased vaginal tightness and better ‘grip’. So, the million dollar question is, do the Noir Lula Kegel balls actually work? Well, the short answer is yes, they do. It’s basic biology really, work a muscle, tone and improve it, and you’ll notice a difference in it’s condition. The problem with kegel balls is that people buy them, use them for a while, then stuff them in the back of a drawer to be forgotten about, because let’s face it, kegel exercise is traditionally very boring! If this is something you’re going to do, then no, they won’t work for you, so don’t buy them. You need a certain level of commitment, and that’s where I think that ElectraStim have an advantage, because the whole process is pleasurable! Add a clit vibe like the We-Vibe Tango into the equation and BOOM, orgasmic bliss! If only all exercise resulted in mind blowing climaxes, the gym wouldn’t be so bloody boring …
The ElectraStim Silicone Noir Lula is a kegel exercise game changer for me. It’s fun, and because it’s fun and very pleasurable, I’m likely to continue to use them regularly. I’d really recommend them highly, and I don’t think I’d ever favour manual kegel balls again. They’re comfortable to wear, easy to look after (I just use sex toy cleaner) and very discreet because they’re totally silent during use. I’ve noticed an improvement in tightness, and also a slight improvement in strength of orgasms too, I also don’t panic if I sneeze unexpectedly! I think every pelvic floor deserves some loving!
ElectraStim kindly sent me the Noir Lula kegels for free, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This does not alter my thoughts or experiences in any way. If you want to treat that PC muscle, you can get your own Noir Lula directly from ElectraStim here (package including Flick unit here) or from Lovehoney here.
